Author and Publisher. Among many other projects and publications, I co-authored, w/ William D. Chadwick,

the Mass Casualty Response Plan for the Municipality of Anchorage, Office of Emergency Management.

5/2004-Present: State of Alaska Marine Highway System, Ketchikan, AK

Steward. Responsible to act at the direction of vessel Master and Chief Steward in activities pertinent to support and service of AMHS passengers and crew.

2/2003 - 8/2003 City of Kasaan, Kasaan, AK

City Administrator. Under the direction of the Mayor and City Council, responsible for the day to day fiscal and physical operations of the City of Kasaan; as well as tasked with securing additional grant monies as available.

6/2002 - 2/2003 City of Kasaan, Kasaan, AK

Maintenance Position/City Clerk. Responsible for general maintenance of City buildings, grounds and property.

Upgraded utilities in Fire Hall and City Garage. OIT Water Treatment facility training. Assumed City Clerk duties until a replacement was hired.

1980 - 1996 Municipality of Anchorage Fire Department, Anchorage, AK

Firefighter III/EMT-D/Hazardous Materials Technician and Instructor. Progressively responsible experience in fire line operations and emergency medical services, including acting in supervisory capacities as acting Fire Captain while on promotional eligibility lists.

In addition, a candidate on Fire Inspector promotional eligibility lists. I provided in-house desktop publishing and videographic services,

including technical training manuals, newsletters, annual reports, and capital improvement budget request publications

used by AFD Chief Officers to solicit successfully Capital Improvement funds from the Alaska State Legislature.

1978 - 1980 Independence Mine Lodge, Hatcher Pass, AK

Manager/Caretaker. My former wife and I were responsible for the operation and maintenance of remote lodge in the Talkeetna Mountains

prior to its purchase by the State of Alaska. Our operations included the management of bar, restaurant, hostel, and convention activities.


1976 - 1978 White Pine Ski Touring Company, Park City, UT

Nordic Ski Instructor and Alpine Touring Guide. Responsible for Nordic ski guiding and ski instruction,

as well as outdoor and winter survival training in the Wasatch National Forest/High Uintahs Primitive Area.

1974 - 1976 Crow Creek Nordic Coalition, Girdwood, AK

Owner. Founded, managed Nordic skiing, touring and wilderness guide operations.

1972 - 1974 Brigham Young University Nordic Ski Team, Provo, UT

Nordic Ski Team Coach. Coached and managed co-educational Nordic Team; including training, recruiting, travel, and publicity.

A feature of my tenure was that I was the nation's youngest (at 18 years of age) collegiate level Nordic coach.
